Walloon Writers Review is a regional literary magazine celebrating the unique experience and natural beauty of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. This collection of original short stories, prose, poetry and nature photography is open to submissions by writers and photographers that live here year round or seasonally, have ties or even have visited or vacationed in this amazing region. We welcome contributors of all levels of experience.
Walloon Writers Review is a 'casual collection' to be shared at the cottage, on the book/magazine table on the porch, the cabin bookshelf or on the coffee table, for everyone to pick up and enjoy and return to read more! This independent magazine publishes annually and is sold through Michigan independent bookstores and major online retailers, including Bookshop.org, and Barnesandnoble.com.
Our Call For Submissions runs annually. We are now accepting submissions for Walloon Writers Review Edition 7, edited by Associate Editor Glen Young. See Guidelines on our website at www.walloonwritersreview.com, under Submissions tab. Deadline for submissions is December 15, 2021. Expected release date: Spring, 2022. Photography submissions must be submitted directly.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Call For Submissions for Edition 7!
Walloon Writers Review is an independent contemporary literary magazine focused on Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. We publish original stories, poetry, creative writing and photography inspired by the natural beauty and amazing experience of this region.

All North American Rights are retained by authors and photographers and by submitting materials, selected contributors agree to allow publication, use for promotional purposes and distribution of their submission by Walloon Writers Review.
Please note the following:
- Our word count to 4,000 words maximum
- Please limit to 3 submissions
- Photography must be submitted with a copyright symbol or request for us to add one.
- Walloon Writers Review is an all ages accessible print publication and will not accept adult content, materials that step outside of our focus or politically motivated/adult themed/graphic materials.
- Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula is our focus.
- PHOTOGRAPHY CAN BE SUBMITTED DIRECTLY BUT MUST ALSO BE ACCOMPANIED BY READING FEE. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please submit your original creative short stories, poetry, writing, musings and photography for consideration. Our Fourth Edition will be available in November, 2018. Our theme is materials inspired by and that reflect the amazing experience of Northern Michigan and Upper Peninsula and are suitable for all ages to enjoy. The natural beauty, the memories of summers or winters up here for family gatherings and adventures, the thing that keeps you coming back to visit, live here or just make the annual treck up!

Due to staff restrictions, we are unable to comment on each individual submission. Please expect an email confirmation that we have received your piece and acceptance or decline or holding.

All rights are retained by the original author and photographer, you are agreeing to allow Walloon Writers Review to republish your materials, with your brief biography, and allow inclusion of your name and or piece in promotional materials.
